Teacher Only Days

This year we have had two teacher only days both with a focus on Local Curriculum. The first day was 11/5/21. We planned 2 inquiry units - the first was a Gold Rush, Lawrence History plan and the second was a Matariki inquiry/art unit.  


The second day was the 16/8/21. We had another focus on the local curriculum and how we can include this on our unit planning. We also spent time on whanaungatanga.

Professional Learning Group - on site visit

On the 14th August I had a 1-1 meeting with Anne Kenneally to discuss my inquiry. I found this very beneficial and got some good ideas. I was able to discuss some activities I had done in class and the student voice I had gained from health sessions this term. Anne shared some useful resources with me to help with my next steps. It was also great to be able to go over the spirals of inquiry and fill this in more. Spiral of Inquiry 2019

Physical Education and Health Report to the Board of Trustees

In June 2018, I worked alongside Carla Laughton (Head of PE/Health) to collate data, review last year's goals and make some recommendations for this year. We then presented this to the Board of Trustees (BOT), where we answered questions and had a discussion about Physical Education and Health at Lawrence Area School this year. This was a great opportunity to take on more responsibility in the school and also wonderful to able to attend a BOT meeting and strengthen professional relationships within the school.

Seesaw demonstration

On Monday afternoon the Junior School had a Seesaw demonstration with Gillian. This was a great opportunity to learn more about the app and how we can use it in our classrooms. It's a great tool for children to use to share their learning with their parents and very user friendly for the students. Room 7 had already had a go at using it and had sent home the parent form so they can login to see their child's posts.
