Seesaw demonstration

On Monday afternoon the Junior School had a Seesaw demonstration with Gillian. This was a great opportunity to learn more about the app and how we can use it in our classrooms. It's a great tool for children to use to share their learning with their parents and very user friendly for the students.

Room 7 had already had a go at using it and had sent home the parent form so they can login to see their child's posts.

Kahui Ako - Breakfast Meeting

 On Tuesday morning we had an online meeting via Zoom with our Kahui Ako and Core providers - Anne and Gemma. This meeting was all about engagement and how we can better engage our students into tasks. The main idea I got from the meeting was about Roger Hart's Ladder - each rung on the ladder invovled student voice more from the bottom of the ladder, where students are told exactly what to do and how to do it., working to the top of the ladder where students and teachers work together to to lead activities with teachers working as equal partners.

Te Wiki o Te Reo Maori - Maori Language Week

This week in class we have been trying to include more Te Reo Maori in our every day language in class. This is on top of the Te Reo sessions we already do each week. We used a new resource that was sent to school which was new books that were in Te Reo in the front and then English in the back. It was great to learn some new language and refresh our memories on some other terms we have used before. We also learned a Traditional Maori game called Tapu Ae. A new class favourite.

Class Information evening

Last night the Junior School held their annual Class Information Evening aka Meet The Teacher. I had two parents that attended so it was a quick meeting but got a chance to talk both parents individually before and after the meeting which was beneficial for me.
