Kite Making Day - 28th June

We carried out a Junior School Technology Day based on Kite Making due to a Matariki festival being held in Lawrence. We posed a problem, we made a plan, we designed a prototype, we discussed the challenges and solutions. We grouped children into mixed level groups with a year 7/8 student as a leader and supervised each group in our classes. A very worthwhile day! Kite Making Day Plan

Reports to the BOT

Presented the Physical Education and Health report to the Board of Trustees and answered questions from the BOT.

ALL Cluster Meeting

On 18th June Pauline and I travelled to Alexandra for the ALL Cluster meeting. This was a great opportunity to meet with the teachers of ALL from other schools and discuss how our ALL programmes are going in each of our class. I got some really valuable ideas and was able to implement some of these into my programme in the last 2 or 3 weeks of my programme. ALL meeting

Professional Learning Group

On the 13th June I travelled to Cromwell to have a day with my professional learning group and with Darran Ingram. This was a very valuable day where we got to have lots of discussions about our inquiry and finalise what our question was going to be and get some ideas for activities to do in class.

Digital Dynamos Day

Image
On Thursday 6th June, Gillian, Stephen and myself, along with teachers from other schools, organised a Digital Dynamos Day. This was hosted by LAS and was a day for children from other schools around South Otago and the lower Central Otago regions to get together and share digital tools that they have been using in class to help with their learning. This day was an awesome opportunity for students to collaborate and learn some great new techie sites or skills to take back to their own schools and classrooms to teach them about. It was a very worthwhile and fun day for both students and teachers.
